At Saratoga Joinery, community investment is one of the values that drives everything we do. Several times a year, we partner with local organizations on projects that put our tools, our space, and our members' skills to work for the public good. Past projects include handcrafted benches for Pitney Meadows Community Farm, a flame maple Saratoga County map presented to the Saratoga Springs Fire Department in honor of retired firefighter Otis Groff, and a compost station for Franklin County Community Center.
These projects are feel-good moments, but more importantly they're hands-on learning experiences that challenge members to apply their skills in a real-world context alongside fellow makers. They're collaborative, purposeful, and one of the things that makes membership here unlike anything else. Community service projects are offered exclusively to members on a limited basis throughout the year.
If you represent a local nonprofit, school, or community organization, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for small-to-medium sized woodworking-related projects that serve a public purpose and might otherwise be out of reach due to cost. Your organization gets a finished piece built by skilled hands in a professional shop, for a fraction of what it would cost elsewhere. We review proposals on a rolling basis and accept a limited number of projects each year.
