Join us in welcoming our newest addition to our Safety Coordinator team, Evan Brooksby!
A lifelong woodworking enthusiast who first discovered the craft in middle school, Evan had to put his passion on hold when kids came along. Now, he's found a home at the Joinery, where he has access to all the tools and resources he needs to create meaningful projects for his family.
Right now, Evan's working on making a chessboard for his son and a book holder for his daughter. Each piece he makes is crafted with the intention of becoming a cherished keepsake—objects that will carry memories for years to come.
His turned bowl from our bowl turning class still sits on his counter, prompting amazed reactions from visitors. It's a testament to both his skill and the transformative experience of learning something new in a supportive environment.
Evan is extremely excited about our lathe space opening for independent member use this week, and plans to spend his Wednesday evenings right here practicing his turning skills. But his connection to the Joinery goes beyond personal projects.
After taking a few classes, he reached out and inquired about volunteering. When asked why, his answer was simple: "I just enjoy being here. It's nice. Everybody is kind and helpful."
That's the spirit that makes our community thrive, and we couldn't be more excited to have Evan bringing that same warmth and enthusiasm to his role as Safety Coordinator.
You'll find Evan here from 1pm-5pm every Thursday, ready to help keep our space safe and welcoming for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned woodworker or just getting started, stop by and introduce yourself.
Welcome to the team, Evan! We're so excited to have you here.
