We're Hiring Woodworking Instructors!

Saratoga Joinery is a nonprofit community woodworking shop dedicated to making woodworking accessible, creative, and fun for everyone. We offer a welcoming space equipped with professional tools and a community of curious makers at all skill levels.

Our students love classes where they walk away with something they actually made: functional, beautiful, take-home projects that make great gifts and great memories. Think small shelves, jewelry boxes, wall hooks, and beyond.

We're always looking for skilled woodworkers who love to teach. Whether you specialize in hand tools, furniture making, wood turning, or weekend project builds, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Design and lead hands-on woodworking classes for community members, primarily beginners
  • Develop your own class concepts! We welcome creative pitches and fresh ideas
  • Guide students through projects from start to finish, with safety and skill-building at the center
  • Communicate clearly with shop staff to coordinate scheduling, materials, and setup
  • Create an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment where everyone feels welcome

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated woodworking skill and experience;  formal training not required
  • Comfort teaching adults in a hands-on setting
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging teaching style
  • Reliability and professionalism in scheduling and student communication
  • Passion for making woodworking approachable and fun

The Details

  • Independent contractor role; flexible scheduling
  • Competitive pay
  • You propose the class; we handle registration, marketing, and logistics
  • Access to our fully equipped shop and tools
  • Class assistant always provided
